Pockets Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026
Pockets (“the app”) is a personal budgeting app. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. In short: your data stays on your phone. We don’t collect it, see it, or share it.
What the app stores
Everything you enter stays on your device:
- Budgets: budget names, income and expense items, amounts, pockets (categories), and whether items are paid, received or recurring.
- Profile: your name and surname, and optionally a photo or emoji avatar.
- Settings: your preferences, such as theme, currency, reminders and custom pockets.
This data is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM. The encryption key is kept in your device’s secure keychain (iOS) or keystore (Android) and never leaves your device.
Your PIN and biometrics
- Your 4-digit PIN is never stored. The app only keeps a salted, one-way hash of it in your device’s secure keychain or keystore.
- If you turn on Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint unlock, the check is done entirely by your phone’s operating system. The app only learns whether the check succeeded. It never receives or stores your face or fingerprint data.
Photos
If you choose a profile photo, the app asks for permission to access your photo library, and only reads the one photo you pick. A copy is saved in the app’s private storage on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere.
Notifications
Reminders (for example, to plan next month’s budget) are scheduled locally on your device. No notification data is sent to us or to any server.
What we don’t do
- We don’t collect, transmit or sell any personal data.
- There are no user accounts, no servers and no cloud sync.
- There is no advertising, analytics or tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
Exports
You can export your budgets as a CSV or JSON file and share it using your phone’s share sheet. Exported files are not encrypted. Once you share a file, it is handled by the app or service you choose, so keep exported files somewhere safe.
Deleting your data
You can delete individual budgets in the app at any time. To delete everything, use Forgot PIN? → Reset app on the lock screen, or uninstall the app. Because no data is stored anywhere else, this permanently removes it.
Children
Pockets is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a new “Last updated” date.
